Antiqued Shutter Shelves

This shelf turned out AMAZING! It was really simple to do, just took alot of time and patience but totally worth it!

I found these closet shutter doors from a Facebook yard sale site so they were really cheap!

I didn't have to strip them or sand them either. I left the holes that were used for the knobs and stop things on the bottom because they were going to be covered up by the shelves.

I just used Vaseline to cover the edges and painted it with white chalk paint from Walmart. Super easy and super cheap!

Cheap and Easy Christmas Gifts for Friends or Neighbors!

I wanted to make inexpensive gifts for my friends and neighbors this year so I thought I would make Candied Popcorn in cute little boxes this year!

I found these cute little cupcake boxes at Walmart for $1.47 for 3. I decided they would fit a small bag of candied popcorn.

Walmart carries flavored holiday candy melts and so I bought the Candy Cane flavored one this time.

I also bought red plastic treat bags there for $.97 for 20 bags. I put these inside the boxes with the popcorn inside to help keep it fresh.

I purchased the large bag of popcorn from Macey's already popped pop corn. (It's the best)! I poured half the bag into a very large bowl.

Then I used one full bag of the candy melts and melted them in a microwave safe bowl for 2 min. Then stir them until all of the other chocolate is melted by the heat of the bowl. DON"T over cook chocolate or it will turn weird.

Pour all melted candy melts over the popcorn and mix with a spoon. Turning from the bottom to the top and turning the bowl as you go. Keep mixing till all the popcorn is coated. Pour on a wax covered cookie sheet to cool and dry.

Then you can add it to the sacks and put into the boxes!

Merry Christmas!

Easy Trek Removable Bucket Seat

This year was my first year going to trek with the Youth or even as a youth. I wasn't able to go as a youth so this was a treat for us to be able to go as Ma and Pa's. Since the buckets use the gamma lids instead of the snap-ons, we made these cool, cheap and easy padded seats.

Peel and Stick Waterproof Vinyl Tiles!

If you have seen my cabinet remodel post, you saw the floor was not completed! I didnt want to mess with regualr tile since its a mess and kills my hands so I looked into a different method I hadn't hear much about. IT is peel and stick vinyl tiles. I didn't want the vinyl look I wanted wood. And I found it at Lowes! My whole bathroom floor was $30! AMAZING!!!

Before

                                                   After

Super easy to install and the cuts are made with a Razor Blade! I started with a full peice at the threshold but then worked my way ina pattern that the seams would not match up and look nice.

Steps:

1- First I cleaned the floor really good and dried it.

2- Then you need to primer it with latex primer. It sticks really good to latex primer. (No oil based)

3- Let the primer dry before installing the vinyl flooring.

4- Start at teh doorway and work your way back following your pattern on the floor. Make sure you get them as close as possible to not have cracks. (if using wood looking planks. Other vinyl tiles can be grouted) You can lay it out first if you want or just go with it. If you lay it wrong they do come up. The more you walk on them the stickier they are.

5- After I was finished I put in the new baseboards and caulked the entire floor and around the toilet to seal it! I used white caulk. This was the finished product!

Antiquing your old Cabinets!

Antiquing anything can be overwhelming to think about sometimes. Maybe you feel like you cant because you aren't talented in that way? Well, your wrong! I have found a product that is fool proof and you can't mess it up! Its easy and quick and looks stunning!

I decided to start with my bathroom cabinet. (I'll be doing my kitchen cabinets too later)

Supplies:

1- Magic Eraser and Old Shirt piece for a rag.

2- Diamond Brite Paint 40400 1 Quart Kitchen and Bath with Mildew Protection Semi Gloss Latex Paint White

3- Old Masters 80708 1 Pint Gel Stain, Dark Walnut ( or whatever color you desire)

4- Rust-Oleum 2004 Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 White Water-Based Interior/Exterior Primer Sealer, 1-Quart

5- Minwax 64444 Semi Gloss Polycrylic Protective Finishes, 1 Quart

6- 2 Foam rollers and foam brush. (dollar store)

7- Painters tape for walls and floor.

Steps:

1- Clean your cabinets thoroughly with the magic eraser and let it dry.

2- Tape off cabinet from the wall and floor. ( I didn't tape the floor since I am re-
doing that also)

3- Primer your cabinets with the suggested latex primer using a foam roller. Let the primer dry all the way before painting.

4- After the primer is all the way dry, paint your first coat of white paint using second foam roller. Let dry and coat a second time.

5- IMPORTANT! Before you stain them you need to give them at least 4 hours of dry time after last coat of paint or it will ruin it.

6- After they are completely dry, use foam brush and start with gel stain on any decorative cracks and crannies. Then just lightly brush in spots over the entire surface you are working on. Use your old shirt to start wiping it off. Wipe off the gel stain to desired color. Try to keep some in the cracks and crannies for the darker antiqued look.

7- Let the gel stain dry for at least 6 hours. DO NOT try to wipe it after you have finished wiping. It will streak and doesn't cover a second time.

8- Finish with 2 coats of the Polycrylic finish and your finished! You can use a different color under your stain for a different look. I just wanted white so it looked antique brown.

Bathroom Counter top Remodel for $30!

I was tired of my old bathroom counter top being drab! I wanted a face lift but didn't want to pay a ton to do it. I knew I could utilize some things I knew how to do and also some of the things I have seen on Pinterest. So I gave it a go!

Here was my bathroom counter top Before:

And here was my Finished Product

Steps:

I cleaned the surface of my counter top really good and dried it. Then I bought a small paint tray and foam brush from the dollar store and rolled on the latex primer.
After the primer dried I made a bottom main color using the acrylic paints till desired color and rolled that over top of the primer. Then I took the acrylic paints I had at home and a piece of an old shirt for a rag and dabbed each color over the surface. I started with the darkest and worked up to the lightest and then did it again until all the base color was mostly covered.
After that dried I painted on the polycrylic. I did 4 coats after each one had dried thoroughly. Makes sure you coat every inch even the sides of the counter top!

Should be beautiful!!! Good Luck and Post comments or question if you have them! I would love to help you!

( I will go through the cabinet makeover in the next post!)
